Multiplicity
I know I make this offer on an infrequent basis but if you have any questiond regardign multiplicity feel free to ask. I generally don't give sweeping generalizations so if you ask about multiplicity in general instead of my specific experience of it I may not have much useful to add. a few rules, 1) keep it polite. think about how you would take the phraseing of a question and such.2)for us integration = murder so we won't react well to people trying to force us to take that road. we are happy to dicuss why we fell this way just won't take attempts to talk us out of feeling this way well.3) if youi ask soemthing very personal we might ask for an email addie to send the response to.

You refer to a library, a sick bay, places like that. How many places like that are there? Do they seem to have physical form when you're not fronting?

For most of us the inner world is very real and solid and is where we go when not useing the body. I'm not sure that I can put a number to the places we have inside, there are at least 2 entire worlds. hmmmmmm We have a Library, The Garden, Sick Bay, ICU, the Archives, and the Message Board that are tied in some form or another to the body. And all of those have access to the worlds that others tend to go to when not fronting. If that needs clarifiyng please feel free to ask more questions.~Maeve
Rinn, Holly, Cinder, CT, Andara, Cat, and I think Shadow have all been out and interacted with you directly during one or more of your visits here. It was largely CT, Andara and Holly who came up for the Wedding.Berry says she was peeking and such but not actually interacting much last time we got to see y'all.No problem on the not being able to tell thing. Most of the time we work hard to appear "normal" so it is hard to see the shifting unless things are really stressy, or we are not bothering with normalflage.~Maeve
That sounds rather like what the rest of us try to capture when we play on-line games. I wish I could come visit. It reminds me of the very, very real dreams that I have sometimes.Are new places built as needed, and does that eat the body's resources? What are the other worlds like?I find all of this really, really cool.
New areas are added as needed, and setting them up does require resources from the body if they are tied to the body. the message Board took about a week of meditation and body feeling fuzzy before it was solidly in. It is something that we need to teach folks to use but it helps keep from looseing time. the other worlds are varied. One is Chaos (think roger zelazney courts of chaos) one is the Plane of Crystal (i'm not sure if anything has ever been written about it.) teh places we can get to are varied an exist independantly of us. Some of us go to the Void (large emptiness easy to hide in difficult for most folks to get out of) some can enter what is classically termed Heaven (not that they do but they can if they want to)For that matter teh Garden is independant of the body now, thouhg the Garden tied to teh body connects to the larger Garden and Rinn's Tower.

I've always wondered, where do y'all get your names from?
It depends, some of them the name they give is teh one they have had for a long time. (Kishori for example is not human and several hundred years old her usename she picked out of a baby name book because it was the closest she could come to translateing her name into a form easy for humans to say.)Cat is a usename that she picke dbecasue her native form is feline.Anyone who is a Doll Drkn names and he generally picks names from a baby book or from a list of names the rest of us have compiled that everyone likes.Berry got her name because she insited she was too Holly but we already had one Holly who had been active for much longer so to differentiate between them she got tagged with Hollyberry (an old nickname from our past) wich got shortened to Berry.Rinn was originally short for Ki~rinn (an oriental spirit of good) she got tagged with it becasue she always had one with her.Shadow was originally Rinn's Shadow because she liked to imitate Rinn.If you ar ecurious about any of the names in particular ask and I can tell you where it came from.
1)some of us always knew, some of us were 15 or so and we still hav eone who insits she's the only one in here.2) Depends on the kid. my kids know that there is more than one person in mommy's body and that everyone loves them.3)sometimes, leah changes her hair/fur color frequently and pink is one of her favorites along with purple.
I've been curious about how all of you differ from someone with DID, whether they integrate or not. Do you see this as two different situations, or do you feel that DIDs are actually multiples who don't understand it?I'm sure I have a million other questions, but I won't bombard you with all of them now. :)
Mostly, I'm curious about the process itself. As in, do y'all name yourselves, or each other, or what - for instance, Berry who insisted that her name is Holly, how did she _know_ her name is Holly? Or Kishori's "original" name that hers is the translation of? Where did it come from? That sort of thing.
Kishori says her original and true name was given to her by her mother at her birth, since she was old before she "got stuck with a piece of shattered soul" (her way of describing her entrance to our system) she hasn't changed her name just chose a usename that we poor humans can speak without getting a sore throat.Berry actually is very close to Holly and is a piece of her thus she considered herself to be Holly, it took a lot of negotitiateing to get her to accept a change in her name.Some of us were originally Holly before she shattered. Some of us are Spirits or Entities that got trapped in this body while trying to help the original soul. Mostly the ones who got stuck have names from elswhere and have chosen usenames. Those who either don't know thier name or insit that Holly is thier name get renamed (usually after a lot of negotiateing). Dolls get renamed automatically as part of teaching them that former masters were boobrained idiots with no power over us. (Dolls are those souls with a total slave mentality, they can not function without a master.)
Technically my diagnosis is DID among other things. I don't consider the fact of more than one person in the body to be inhearently a disorder. We have more trouble with the PTSD than we do with the internal polotics.I have a fairly large distrust of the psychiatric field, mostly irrational. I don't really have any experience with someone who has more than one soul and wanted to integrate, aside form the occasional natural mergers that can happen especially in large systems. Feel free to ask all the questions, if I get overwhelmed I will take them in sections so I can break the answers down. I do posts like this occasionally so that folks can ask questions and so that folks know I welcome questions.
a note about my previous comment, it's the field of psychitry itself we have a distrust of. induviduals who are in the psychiatric field don't generally trip the distrust factor.

I also know folks with multipule souls who have trouble with internal stuff enough for the multiplicity itself to be a problem.How many are there?In my system? right now that's a hard question to answer since we have several folks who went missing. at last census before the Goo incident (when lots of folks went missing) roughly 150 with about 45 or so useing the body regularly. Right now we have ten active (five of them Dolls) and several folks who are still smooshed together or missing entirely.What are those mergers like?Depends on the merger, sometimes it's like haveing a system within a system, sometimes it is one or more folks who are very similar melding into a stronger person and only the stronger one remaining. sometimes it's something we do for a ritual purpose that is designed to be short term when that happens it's really stragne, and hard to describe in text.What/who exactly are the Dolls and why are they called that? Dolls are people who literally can not exist in a healthy manner without a Master outside of the body. If they don't have a master they will take any order that anyone gives them and do thier best to do it. They are called that because the idiots who broke us called us babydoll and because they are puppets without a master. Drkn is Master for any Doll in our system. He has it so they can eat drink go to the bathroom sleep and breathe without permission. (largely be giving them standing orders to do those thing as the body needs it)He's working with them to get tehm to make choices and decisions of thier own. Thanks for answering those questions. I guess I didn't realize how curious I was until I started asking things. :) I'm guessing you'll answer that last question later on. When you do, I'm also wondering if I met more than Holly last year at Ostara.
You met several folks at Ostara and poetheather met several others. I can't give you a list of who met you right now, I do know y'all met Rinn and Shadow. as for when we realized that we were many, teh ones who are spirits that got stuck always knew. the rest of us figured it out about the time we were 15 and we were diagnosed as DID at 19. there is still one person in here that insits she's the only one and that every one else is a deamon sent to drive her insane. (she's roughly 8 years old and thinks she's Holly the rest of us call her fanatic.)

Of course, it raises new ones, but any time you get sick of answering, just tell me and I'll stop. :) You mentioned spirits that got stuck - and I kinda thought that was part of it based on some of your previous posts and such, but I was wondering how they got stuck in that body, and if they were in other systems or single bodies before. And this may be a really personal or taboo topic, but I'm wondering about death, too. Does everyone expect to die when the body dies, or will some people find another body or live without one?
most of those that got stuck were protective spirits or entities that either had thier own bodies or were disembodied. they found that teh only way to protect the original soul was to absorb (the concept isn't translateign to wrods well) teh shard that shattered so tehy got stuck. some of them will die when the body does mostly those who had bodies before. others will simply be free to go on and help someone else.almost all of the rest of us belive in reincarnation so we all expect to get new bodies when this one fails. (with the exception of fanatic, she expects to go to hell and be tourtured forever for her sins)untill the body dies death isn't nessacarily permanent for any of us.
